Barry Chesser
“Every September at the Upper Hawkesbury Power Boat Club, the Barry Chesser FURY Trophy brings together racers, family, and friends to celebrate everything Dad loved about the sport.
Boat racing has been in our family for generations. It began with Pop, Kevin Chesser, a local legend known for his flat-bottom boat “PUFF.” After Pop passed in 1988, the family started a race in his honour at his home club.
Dad followed in Pop’s wake, quickly earning a reputation as one of the smoothest drivers in the country. Racing his beloved “FURY Marine” up and down the east coast, he inspired countless competitors and friends along the way.
When Dad passed in 2019, we wanted to honour him just as we did Pop. With the help of our good mate Brett Layton, we created the Barry Chesser FURY Trophy — not just as a race, but as a celebration of Dad’s life, his passion for the sport, and the community he cared so deeply about.
We’re proud to continue this tradition, and we hope to see you trackside this September.”
